Detailing Dynamics first came across the 3M™ Paint Protection film (originally called Clear Advantage and now called Scotchcal with recent update to Scotchgard) in 1997 and started applying the film on racing Porsches to protect the vulnerable low spoilers and headlights.

When applied to the front end, wheel well, door edge, bumper, bed rail, or tailgate areas, this OEM-approved clear urethane film allows a vehicle’s paint color brilliance to show through, while protecting it from damage caused by stone chips, bugs, abrasion and weathering.

3M™ Paint Protection Film is a rugged urethane specially designed to preserve the beauty and integrity of exterior automotive finishes. This layer is covered by a clear coat (just like on your cars paint) that contains UV inhibitors to counteract harmful ultraviolet rays and to resist yellowing. The film is attached with a high-performance, pressure-sensitive adhesive that ensures excellent adhesion to OEM paints, preventing costly field failures. It comes in two thicknesses (8.5 mil. and 14 mil.) which are suitable for different applications.
